There are hints to GHQ involving him in their own experiments. Consequently, Kenji dislikes being touched without his explicit permission, though he doesn’t mind touching others. His captivity was mostly solitary confinement and some amount of torture which made his psyche worse. He is forced to join Funeral Parlor to hide from the public and GHQ, but he comes to love being a full time member of the Parlor because the dynamics of the organization reminds him of his old team from the Sky Tree Bombing. A few years later, he makes his escape with Funeral Parlor when they invade a stronghold of GHQ to retrieve intelligence. Kenji was captured, and has been noted to be one of the youngest to have been given a death sentence for his crimes. Kenji’s team, most of whom were adults, including a few family members of his own, were killed by the government. The attempt succeeded, but escape was impossible. Kenji’s group was among the extreme radicals who opposed this sort of technological advancement, so they decided to destroy the national icon and make their message known. However, many minor parties were not thrilled about the coming of this new era and questioned the ethical standards of biotech’s new paradigm, most especially in response to the recent popularity of biological warfare. The Sky Tree was an icon for the new era of the world’s advancement into technology, a new fusion between technology and biology. Instead of being the sole responsible party for the “Sky Tree Bombing”, he was the youngest in a team of terrorists who undertook this attack mission.

Once again shares the same background as he did in the original premise, former terrorist eventually taken into the government’s custody, since GHQ of this alternative does not have as much public influence as it did in the anime.

I mean, look at him, major character material! I’ve been aiming to give this kid a bigger role, perhaps some backstory. He is finally killed by Shibungi when Funeral Parlor invades GHQ for the last time. By then, he’s followed Gai to GHQ and serves as a worthy rival in hacking to Tsugumi, who remains in Funeral Parlor after the first season. After a while, he disappears into the background and only comes back in the second season.

He is pretty much only important whenever Shu needs his Void, which is a gun that disables gravity. In Episode 4, he is rescued by the Funeral Parlor, and willingly joins them. So he already has mass murder and terrorism on his record.

We can imply that he is a mischievous little guy, given his strong background in demolitions and his involvement in the “Sky Tree Bombing”, which we assume to be pretty bad though we only get one shot of the thing. Sure, he basically became Tsugumi’s hacker rival when he switched sides, but he’s just there. You know, I actually liked Kido around for the first bit, and was a bit disappointed he didn’t get much of a greater role after the first three episodes he showed up in.
